5 Amazing Facts About CEREC

Thursday, November 10th, 2016

Dentistry is a truly amazing field, which is advancing and evolving all the time. We’re proud to invest in incredible dental technology to bring our clients the best treatments out there. One of our most innovative treatments is same-day CEREC restorations. If you’re not familiar with CEREC, here are five amazing facts.

  1. CEREC enables us to offer same-day restorative treatment: usually, it takes around two weeks and separate treatment sessions to provide crown or veneer treatment. With CEREC, we can offer same-day treatment. CEREC takes care of every aspect of restorative treatment for us. We can design, fabricate and fit the new restoration in a single day.
  2. CEREC can be used to make bespoke veneers, inlays and onlays and crowns: CEREC is a versatile piece of kit, which enables us to make an array of different restorations. This means that we can offer same-day treatment to patients with varied restorative needs.
  3. CEREC enables us to do everything on-site: usually, when you need a new crown, for example, we create a putty mould, which is sent away to the laboratory. With CEREC, we do everything on-site.
  4. CEREC uses photographic images to form customised restorations: many people dislike the feel of dental putty in their mouth, and creating moulds can be an unpleasant and messy experience. With CEREC, we don’t need to do this. We can create new restoration using photographic images. CEREC converts these images into 3D templates, which are sent to the milling machine.
  5. CEREC improves accuracy: with putty impressions there’s always a marginal risk of inaccuracy. CEREC eliminates this and is therefore a more accurate way of creating custom-made restorations.

Terrific Technology with CEREC Restorations

Friday, December 4th, 2015

At Liverpool Implant and Aesthetic Dental Spa, we’re big fans of technology and are always eager to invest in new innovations to bring our clients the best treatments on the market. CEREC is a terrific form of technology that enables us to offer same-day bespoke restorative treatment. Whether you need repairs in a hurry or want to enjoy the many benefits of treatment straightaway, CEREC could be an ideal option for you.

What is CEREC and what’s so good about it?

CEREC is a form of technology that allows us to complete the process of restoring the teeth in a single day. With CEREC, we can design, fabricate and fit a brand new crown, veneers, onlay or inlay in just one session, so there’s no hanging about, no temporary restorations and no need to book time off work.

CEREC treatment works by taking images of the teeth and using advanced software to convert them into templates for the new restoration. These virtual templates are sent to the on-site milling machine and the fabrication process begins. In just a couple of minutes, the milling machine creates a brand new, bespoke restoration. Once this process is complete, your dentist can then fit the restoration and you can see the results for yourself.

Traditionally, restorative treatment involves creating putty impressions, which are sent away to a laboratory where the restoration is made by a dental technician. This process usually takes around 2 weeks. With CEREC, we can do everything on-site and this saves a great deal of time as your new restoration will be ready on the same day. There’s also no need to fit a temporary restoration. In addition to time saving, dentists can also enjoy greater involvement in the design process and can guide you through the process step by step so you always know what’s going on.

CEREC Restorations In Just One Day

Thursday, April 4th, 2013

If you’ve ever broken, chipped or knocked any of your teeth out, you know the bother that goes into getting it repaired. Firstly, you have to visit the dentist and then book a few more appointments so your teeth can be measured and treatment carried out. It can take as many as four or five treatments alone before you can start showing off your new smile.  However, a new technology has crashed into the dental word- CEREC technology allows you to get all the treatment you need in a day.

CEREC can fix your teeth in just one day

CEREC is a new form of 3D imaging that can be used in dental clinics. The time consuming part of having new dentures or veneer treatment is that impressions have to be sent away to technologists who make the prosthetics outside of your dental clinic. However, CEREC allows all this to happen in your own clinic so therefore no time is wasted sending things away.

There’s also no need for impressions as a high clarity photo is taken of your mouth and this is converted to a 3D image. Your dentist can then design a tooth/veneer/crown and once happy, the system will carve your new prosthetic out of a ceramic block that has been chosen to accurately match your natural tooth colour within half an hour. Therefore, you can have a new tooth designed, made and fitted in a matter of hours rather than days.

Benefits of CEREC technology

By combining the stages involved in treatments, CEREC allows you to have your treatment all in one day rather than spread over a few weeks. This saves both you and the dentist time and means that you’ll only have to have any injections once. Also, here at Liverpool Dental Spa we can control exactly what your tooth will look like once treated, so there’s no room for errors from outside technologists. Therefore, CEREC technology offers you a permanent, accurate solution to your tooth woes in just one day.

Patients in Central Liverpool Learn All About CEREC Technology

Tuesday, August 7th, 2012

Having a smile to be proud of is something everyone wants, now thanks to new technology it is within everyone’s reach as well. CEREC is a new way to create fillings, crowns, veneers and it can even be used to repair chipped or broken teeth. The main benefit of this technology is that, there is zero waiting time. The restorations are made while you wait and fitted in just one visit to the dentist.

How does CEREC work?

CEREC uses 3D imaging and digital modelling to design and create the required restorations. So there is no need to have messy dental moulds taken and you can actually see what the end result will be, prior to the starting of the treatment. Because this system is more advanced than the traditional method of creating restorations, an exact match can be designed to ensure that it will blend into your mouth. This means that the restoration will look and feel as good as your natural teeth.

What does the treatment involve?

The dentist will take the necessary digital images of your mouth and tooth, or teeth, and they can then work on them in a 3D suite to create the perfect restoration. Once you are happy with the image the request is sent to an onsite milling machine. It can take anywhere from a 10 to 30 minutes to create the restoration but once it is complete it is ready to be fitted immediately.

By utilising this technology dentists can provide faster more efficient services to their patients. It also means that extensive work can be carried out in a single session and there is no need for the patient to have temporary restorations fitted.
