Three Reasons You Should Consider Fixed Braces at Liverpool Dental Spa

Monday, December 4th, 2017

Do you wish you had a beautiful, straight smile? If you’ve got crowded or crooked teeth and you’re looking for a solution, we have some excellent treatment methods on offer. If you’re desperate for brilliant results guaranteed, we recommend fixed braces. Here are just 3 of the reasons why fixed braces may be an ideal option for you:

  1. Amazing results: with fixed braces, the treatment process is very straightforward and you don’t have to worry about remembering to put your brace back in or hitting daily targets for wearing your brace. Once your fixed brace is in place, it does all the hard work for you. There’s no risk of getting to the end of treatment and being disappointed because you haven’t been wearing your brace for the required time each day. You’re guaranteed a gorgeous smile!
  2. Discretion: in days gone by, fixed braces were seen as ugly and bulky, but today, it’s a very different story. Modern fixed braces are much sleeker, finer and more delicate than previous generations, and they are often made from tooth-coloured parts to maximise discretion. We can even fit lingual braces, which are fixed braces that are attached to the back of the teeth, if you’re keen on undergoing treatment in secret.
  3. Confidence: orthodontic treatment doesn’t just change the look of our smile, it also makes you feel a lot more confident about your appearance. If your smile has been holding you back, fixed braces can help to give your self-esteem a boost.

Using innovative, invisible orthodontic systems like MTM No Trace, we can give you the smile you’ve always wanted with the added bonus that nobody will be able to spot those braces. If you like the sound of MTM No Trace braces, what are you waiting for? Call us today!

Introducing MTM No Trace

MTM No Trace is a lingual brace system. This means that it employs fixed braces, which are attached to the back of the teeth, to straighten the teeth. These braces give you a gorgeous new smile without leaving a trace. Lingual braces work in a very similar way to traditional fixed braces, using forces generated by wires and brackets to reposition and align the teeth. These braces are smaller and sleeker than conventional fixed orthodontics and once they’re in place behind the teeth, they’re virtually impossible to spot when you smile.

What’s so good about MTM No Trace?

Many patients come to us feeling apprehensive about having braces because they are worried about the impact on their image, their confidence and their social and professionals lives. With MTM No Trace, there’s no need to worry about how the braces will alter your image, as they won’t be visible. This means you can enjoy life as normal without any anxiety related to how you feel when you look at your smile or what others think. As well as providing an invisible solution, MTM No Trace also promises speedy results. The average treatment time is just 12-24 weeks.

Who can benefit from MTM No Trace?

MTM No Trace braces are ideally suited to patients who need a limited amount of movement. These braces work very quickly so they’re a great option for those hoping to look their best for a special occasion, such as a wedding. If you have more severe orthodontic issues, which require extensive movement, it may be best to opt for a different treatment and our friendly dentists will be happy to make suggestions and recommendations.

Three Ways to Protect Your Braces

Friday, October 13th, 2017

If you have braces, it’s important to take good care of them, as well as your teeth. Here are 3 simple tips to help you protect your braces:

  1. Keep your braces clean: it’s essential to keep your braces clean to protect your teeth and gums and ensure your braces are able to function properly. Your dentist will show you how to clean your brace. You can brush as normal or use specially designed instruments to clean around brackets and wires. It’s a good idea to carry a small brush around with you, so that you can remove food debris from your braces after eating.
  2. Store your braces safely: if you have removable braces and you’re taking them out to clean them or before a meal, make sure you store them in a safe place. You don’t want to lose your brace or put it in a place where it may get damaged or broken. It’s best to carry a small container with you.
  3. Watch what you eat: if you have fixed braces, it’s really beneficial to keep an eye on what you eat. Some foods are much easier to eat with braces than others, but there is also a risk that eating certain foods could damage the braces. Try and steer clear of hard foods like boiled sweets and popcorn, as the kernels can be incredibly hard.

If you need any tips to help preserve your braces and prevent damage, we are here to help, so don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Going Incognito: How Lingual Braces Change Everything about Fixed Braces

Monday, October 2nd, 2017

If you’ve heard negative things about fixed braces, we are aiming to change your mind! Forget everything you’ve ever heard about bulky, ugly, painful braces and let us introduce you to a ground-breaking treatment, which can give you a perfect smile in secret. Hopefully, Incognito may just persuade you that fixed braces are the best!

About Incognito

Incognito is an orthodontic system, which uses fixed braces to move the teeth into the desired position. You may think that this sounds the same as any other fixed brace treatment, but there’s one major difference with Incognito. This is a lingual brace system, which means that the braces are attached to the back of the teeth. If you’ve ever dreamt of having treatment without anyone being able to notice your braces, this doesn’t have to be a dream any longer!

Incognito braces are advanced and they use the latest technology to move the teeth as quickly as possible. These braces are suitable for most patients and they can be used to achieve significant movement. Typically, if you’re a good match for traditional fixed braces, this will be a viable option for you.

The benefits of Incognito

Many people are reluctant to have braces because they’re worried about their image or the impact braces could have on their career or their confidence. With Incognito, the braces cannot be seen when you smile or talk, and this means that you don’t have to be anxious or uneasy about changes to your appearance. Incognito braces are also bespoke. Every individual bracket is designed for you and Incognito braces are made from high-quality materials, including gold. There’s an assumption that lingual braces must be painful because of the distance between the brace and the tongue, but lingual braces are a lot smaller and sleeker than conventional braces and they also use friction-free forces to minimise discomfort.

If you’re keen to find out more about Incognito or you would like to see if this is a good match for you, call us today and book a consultation.

Five Reasons to Reconsider Braces in Adulthood

Friday, September 22nd, 2017

Often, we think about braces as a treatment for teenagers, but adult treatment is becoming increasingly popular. If you’ve put off having braces in the past, here are 5 good reasons to reconsider:

  1. Faster treatment: in years gone by, it was common to wear braces for at least 12 months and in some cases, patients wore braces for up to 3 years. Today, it’s a very different story, and we can straighten the teeth much faster. If you only need minor correction, you’re looking at results in weeks, rather than years.
  2. Discreet options: many people chose not to wear braces during their adolescence because braces used to be very cumbersome and unsightly. Nowadays, there are lots of discreet options on offer and you can even get invisible braces.
  3. Convenient treatments: braces used to be an inconvenience, but now, treatments fit into your normal daily regime seamlessly. Removable braces are particularly popular because they enable you to eat and brush your teeth normally.
  4. Improved confidence: wearing braces is not just about straightening and aligning the teeth. This makes the smile look more attractive, but it also boosts your confidence. If you’ve been hiding your smile away for years, braces can help to ensure you feel more comfortable when your smile is on show.
  5. Affordable options: braces can be expensive, but there are treatments to suit all budgets as well as finance options to help you spread the cost of treatment.

If you’re thinking about braces in adulthood, don’t hesitate to get in touch and find out more!

A ClearStep Forward for Invisible Teeth Straightening

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2017

Have you always wanted straight teeth? Are you thinking about having orthodontic treatment? Many people who come and see us have wanted a more attractive smile for years, but the prospect of wearing unsightly braces has always put them off. The good news is that there have been major developments in the world of orthodontics, and today, you can enjoy incredible results without worrying about your looks thanks to invisible braces like ClearStep.

What is ClearStep?

ClearStep is a clear brace system, which uses a series of custom-made removable appliances to gently steer the teeth into the correct position. These braces are very similar to Invisalign aligners and they look like a clear, sleek and delicate version of a mouth guard worn for sport. These braces are made entirely from high-grade, transparent plastic, so they cannot be seen when you smile. The braces slide over the teeth and they produce gentle forces, which move the teeth quickly and painlessly.

What does the treatment process involve?

With ClearStep, you don’t use a single brace. Rather than wearing the same brace for the duration of treatment, you switch your aligners over after 2 weeks, going through the sequence in order. It’s important to make sure you wear each brace for around 21 hours per day for the best results. You can take your braces out to eat, drink, and clean your teeth.

Who can benefit from ClearStep?

ClearStep is a versatile system, which is suitable for most clients over the age of 14 years old. It is often recommended for those with minor or moderate orthodontic issues and it is a popular choice for those who would prefer an invisible, removable brace to a fixed brace.

If you’re keen to find out if ClearStep could be a good option for you, give us a call today and book a consultation.

Comparing Removable Brace Solutions in the Heart of Liverpool

Wednesday, July 5th, 2017

If you’re searching for a convenient orthodontic treatment in the heart of Liverpool, you’ve come to the right place. Often, when patients come to us, they’re worried about how wearing braces will impact their lives. With removable braces, there’s minimal disruption, and you can carry on eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth as normal. If you like the sound of removable braces, here are some of our most popular options:

Invisalign: Invisalign is one of the world’s leading orthodontic treatments. A number of patients choose Invisalign because it allows them to secretly undergo treatment. Invisalign aligners are made from clear plastic, and they are virtually invisible when you smile. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign uses a series of aligners, rather than a single brace. Each aligner is shaped differently to encourage tooth movement, and the fact that the braces are removable gives you freedom and flexibility. It also makes life much easier when it comes to keeping your teeth clean and you don’t have to worry about eating in public and getting food trapped in your brace.

Inman Aligner: the Inman Aligner is a removable brace, which is ideally suited to patients who have minor issues that affect the teeth at the front of the mouth. This brace works rapidly, with an average treatment time of around 16 weeks. The aligner isn’t completely invisible, but it is much more discreet than traditional fixed braces.

Clearstep: Clearstep is similar to Invisalign, but it is generally recommended for patients who need only a small amount of movement. Clearstep braces are made from transparent plastic and they offer a very discreet solution. Clearstep braces are designed to be removed when you eat and brush your teeth, so you should find that they fit into your normal daily routine very easily.

If you’re keen to find out more about our removable braces, call us today and book a consultation!

Sore Jaw? See how we can help you in the heart of Liverpool

Thursday, June 15th, 2017

Do you sometimes wake up with a painful jaw? Does your jaw feel stiff when you yawn or open your mouth? Do you suffer from headaches or pain in your neck or shoulders? If your jaw feels painful, don’t suffer in silence. If you’ve got a sore jaw, we can help you, right here in the heart of Liverpool.

What causes jaw pain?

Jaw pain is often associated with trauma or accidents, but it can also be a symptom of TMJ disorder, also known as TMD. The temporomandibular joint is the joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull. When you open and close your mouth, if you hold your fingertips at the side of your face under your ear, you’ll feel the joint moving. TMJ disorder is the name given to a group of symptoms that affect this joint. Examples include:

  • Clicking and popping noises when you move your mouth
  • Stiffness in the jaw
  • Jaw pain
  • Restricted range of movement in the jaw joint
  • Headaches
  • Shoulder and neck pain

TMJ disorder can sometimes be a result of bruxism. Bruxism is the medical name for grinding your teeth. When you grind the teeth together, this can cause tension in the muscles around the jaw. Many people grind their teeth without realising, and if you’re waking up with symptoms like those listed above, this may be the cause. Bruxism is sometimes linked to stress and anxiety, but it may also be caused by loose restorations, such as fillings, and orthodontic issues.

What can be done for TMJ disorder?

The treatment path will depend on the underlying cause. If there are problems with the bite that are contributing to bruxism, orthodontic treatment may be recommended. Our dentists can also fix loose fillings or crowns. If there are other causes, we may recommend using a bite guard. A bite guard is a bespoke device, which can be worn during the night. The aim is to prevent the top and bottom arches of teeth from clashing together while you sleep.
